Apple has released the 1.1.4 Firmware update for iPhone and iPod Touch. No details yet on what new features (if any) have been included.

Apple released the 1.1.3 firmware at Macworld San Francisco and added a number of new features including Google Maps Location, Webclips, and Multiple-Contact SMS.

Early reports indicate that there are no obvious new features, but it does “break” unofficial apps (jailbreak). Apple was to announce the iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK) this month, so the release may add official support for 3rd party applications written with the SDK. The 1.1.4 firmware update is presently available through iTunes for your iPhone and iPod Touch.

Notes:

• No Flash support
• iToner 1.0.6 still works
• ZiPhone may work, but the developer warns that not to upgrade as it hasn’t been tested.

Here is the tutorial for jailbreak and have iPhone apps and all the new features for 1.1.3 firmware.

IMPORTANT:

- You must have a jailbroken 1.1.2. firmware (if you don’t know hot to jailbreak 1.1.2 click here)
- Set your autolock to never
- Make sure you have full battery or your device is plugged in via USB
- Make sure you have a strong WiFi connection (not high speed internet, but it’s important not to break the transfer)

Prepare your Jailbroken 1.1.2 device for the update:

• Launch Installer.app
• Go to sources -> Edi -> Add:
  http://ipodtouchmaster.com/files/repo.xml (make sure you use the xml extension too)
• Refresh Sources
• Go to Install -> “1.13 JaikBreak + Apps” -> Install it
• Leave yor device alone for 1-2 hours
• Unlock it and you have an jailbroken 1.1.3 Firmware (+iPhone Apps)

Download and extract the files from this archive Downgrade to 1.1.1.

Run  iphuc.exe and write in console the following lines and hit enter:

enterrecovery

filecopytophone WTF.s5l8900xall.RELEASE.dfu

cmd go

Wait  3-5 minutes and close iPhuc.

Open iTunes, and press SHIFT + Restore. Select Firmware 1.1.1.

You can now Jailbreak the 1.1.1 Firmware. If you don’t know how to do it just follow this link.

• Select OktoPrep
• Click Install

Update to 1.1.2

• Connect your device to your computer
• Launch iTunes
• Choose your device
• Click Update
  - Shift-click (PC) or Option-click (Mac) on “Check for update” and select the previous downloaded 1.1.2 firmware
  - DO NOT CLICK OR SHIFT-CLICK RESTORE: That will wipe the changes OktoPrep made.
• Wait as long as is needed for your device to update

Jailbreak 1.1.2

First of all download you jailbreak files by clicking here and extract them to a folder.

To downgrade you’ll have to open iTunes and press shift-click (PC) or option-click (Mac) on “Restore”. Select your downloade 1.1.1 firmware and wait until iTunes resets your device. You can now jailbreak 1.1.1 firmware. If you don’t know howw, just follow this link.

There are currently two methods to jailbreak your iPhone / iPod firmware version 1.1.1.

First method (the easy way)

You will need WiFi for this method!

1. Go onto your iPod and launch Safari.
2. Type in www.jailbreakme.com
3. Click go.
4. It should bring you to a page with AppSnapp Installer for 1.1.1 on the top of it. Scroll down to the bottom and click Install AppSnapp.
5. Safari should crash and go to your dock and say “Downloading:” and a few other things.
6. Once it is done downloading it should go to where you slide the arrow to unlock. Slide it and you should have the Installer Icon. You have just Jailbroken your iPod with 1.1.1 firmware!!

The second method

If the first method doesn’t work (the jailbreakme.com just crash your Safari and nothing else happened.)

1. Download the Jailbreak by clicking this link
2. Extract the files to a folder.
3. Navigate to http://jailbreak.toc2rta.com on your iPod Touch’s Safari browser.
4. Go to the the folder where you extracted the Jailbreak.
5. Run ‘jailbreak.bat‘
6. Follow On Screen Instructions
*To get your iPod’s IP address navigate to ‘Settings’ on your iPod touch, then tap ‘Wi-Fi’ then tap the arrow pointing to the right, which is next to the router with a check in front of it. Now type in the IP address that is listed there.*
7. Press Enter and Wait…
8. Restart iPod Touch

NOTE: If your phone has been activated through iTunes, you will have to use this jailbreak

1. Enter *#307# press call, now use the back button on the top of your screen to remove *#307# , now enter 0 , press call, press answer, press hold, press decline. And you get to the contact   list. And thereafter every time you push the homebutton you just slide the “emergency call”  slide, then enter 0 , press call, press hold, press decline.

2. Push contacts, end call and you get called again, this time hit decline and you access one of  menus with favorites, you can edit contacts, do a test ride on keyboard, take photos etc.

3. Now edit a new contact and type in “prefs://11″ as web-address and “http://jailbreakme.com” as  an additional URL.

4. When you tap “prefs://11″ you can now select your favorite WiFi gateway.

5. Now press the home button and move the slider to the dial-pad.

6. Now you can go back to the contact list by Dialing 0, push call, then answer, then contacts,  then hit the “http://jailbreakme.com” web address you typed in.

7. Scroll down to the bottom, click “Install AppSnapp”. Safari will exit and you’ll return to your springboard. Wait for the phone to reboot. You are now jailbroken. and are able to use   Installer.app.

Warning: This should be used as a last resort, restoring will erase all of your data

*Must have iPod plugged into computer while doing this*

Be patient, the force restore part may take up to 20 seconds.

1. Press and hold the home button and the sleep/wake button. (the power off option will appear, ignore it)
2. When the apple logo appears let go of the sleep/wake button (keep holding the home button.)
3. After a few seconds you should see the connect to iTunes image (you can now let go of the home button.)
4. Open iTunes .
5. iTunes should automatically recognize your iPod once the image comes up, if not unplug your iPod and plug it back in.
6. Restore your iPod by clicking the “Restore” button.
